As we mentioned in previous articles during the last stage of the menstrual cycle normally a layer of endometriosis lining in the inside of the uterus is expelled, known as menstruation blood but instead some of the endometriosis tissues growing somewhere in the body causing endometriosis. Endometriosis also reacts to hormonal signals of the monthly menstrual cycle by building up tissue, breaking it, and eliminating it through the menstrual period. Not all women want to have children, but many of them may want to have baby in some point in their life. They will surprise that how difficult to get pregnant if they have endometriosis. Study shows that between 35- 60 percent of women with endometriosis can not conceive. In this article, we will discuss endometriosis and infertility

I. Definition
Infertility is referred to the biological inability of a man or women to contribute to conception, or the couple has not conceived after 6 months of contraceptive-free intercourse or the female is incapable of carrying a pregnancy to term (miscarriage). In men, it may be caused by lower counts of sperm, blockage of sperms, abnormal shapes of sperms and pool mobility of sperms. In women, we will discuss the cause of infertility because of endometriosis.

II. Causes
a) Ovulation problem
Endometriosis may cause the delay of the egg to develop normally in the follicular phase.
b) Blockage of Fallopian tubes
Many women who have endometrial implants and adhesion located in the area that block the sperm from getting into the Fallopian tubes to fertilize the egg, causing inflammation and preventing conception.
c ) Infrequent ovulation
Some women do not properly develop and release a mature egg every month because of interference of endometrial adhesion or implants in the ovary or medication of oral contraceptive pills taken before.
d) Failure of ovarian follicle development
Some women never develop and release an egg without medication. Even after stopping, intake of some kind of oral contraceptive pills that help to reduce symptoms of endometriosis still interfere with ovarian follicle development.
e) Hormone imbalance
Women with endometriosis may cause hormonal imbalance that affects the luteal phase in menstrual cycle caused by low level of progesterone that is necessary for conception.

It is importance that women with endometriosis to identify the causes of infertility and take the positive approach to amend them with their doctor.
